Africaplc is at the forefront of African eTrade and creating partnerships with key stakeholders to build sustainable local supply chains. Africaplc leverages its community of millions of procuring corporates, government bodies and procuring humanitarian agencies, to take local SME’s from potential to qualified suppliers, in support of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) equipping them to transact directly with Humanitarian Aid, Government and Corporate procurement buyers.
This will be achieved by:
- Ensuring suppliers and specifically SMEs are the participants and beneficiaries of Corporate, Aid and Government’s procurement programmes
- Developing SMEs within the region through the Ai Electronic Trade Institute for Africa
- Growing the overall direct and indirect spend of major public and private sector procurement bodies across Sub-Saharan Africa
- Developing the local capacity of indigenous entrepreneurs to position supporting organizations favorably in partnerships with a view to winning strategic tenders
SMEs are faced with many challenges on the road to success. Africaplc understands this and through its network of Supplier Development initiatives, provides assistance in three key areas that SMEs typically find particularly challenging:
- Technical and business development support
- Access to funding; and
- Access to markets
